BIO:
Maunah is the sound of forests and open skies. Maunah is innity and damp soil. Maunah is the attempt to conjure an opening to something greater and older. Maunah is leaves crunching underfoot and the cold from the forest oor seeping through the soles. Maunah is the warmth of the sun on the face in a clearing and the air filling the lungs with fungal spores and oxygen. In the music, the cold of the winter forest meets the summer warmth in the chest, where the heart pumps the metallic blood through the body.

The members of Maunah collectively evoke music that emerges as a communal meditation on the primordial darkness of nature and its playful interaction with hope and human creativity. Maunah entices the listener into an intuitive understanding of an otherwise wordless universe, built on sound, atmosphere, and rhythm, in an echo of human languages. The absence of the familiar in the vocals invites the listener to a direct connection with the music, reaching beyond the limits of rational language.

Maunah’s music is a sensory reminder of humanity’s unity with nature and a rejection of the materialistic and disconnected lifestyle that characterizes modern society.

On June 20th, 2025, Maunah released their debut EP Heimaland. The music
draws on metal genres such as doom, progressive, and atmospheric metal but is
also clearly inuenced by folk music and alt-rock. Maunah features members from
established metal acts such as Helge, (ex-)Woebegone Obscured, Altar of Oblivion,
and Funeral Chasm. Additionally, lead vocalist Søren Sol Koldsen-Zederkof has toured extensively within the folk genre with the Viking folk band Krauka and has released
several critically acclaimed albums under the artist name Los.
